Aargh, I’m Bored!
Ever hear yourself saying that? Let’s look at it.
Bored is the *antithesis* of Enthusiasm. *(big word, look it up to keep you busy, not bored)
In this day and age, it is “cool” to be laid back, to “chill,” to not get excited about anything, be blasé, look like nothing bothers you or matters to you, be mellow. Come to think of it, it wasn’t much different in the “old days” for young people to think and act the same way. .
Here’s the thing…it’s really hard to get enthused and excited about something when you are busy chilling and being laid back. I know- Been there, Done that.
It’s all about attitude”So what can I do about that?” you ask.
- Observe what’s going on around you.
- Open your eyes to all the possibilities in this world
- What is it that turns you on, wakes you up, gets you thinking?(besides the opposite sex)
- Guess what! That’s the beginning of enthusiasm. That’s attitude change!
- Pursue it and Run with it. Get Excited about it!
Remember, Chill is the opposite of Enthusiasm. There is a time to chill, but not when you want to succeed and make the big bucks!

First you must remember that “Enthusiasm breeds success and success breeds enthusiasm.”
When I run out of enthusiasm for a project (which is why you don’t finish) here’s what I do.
The first thing I do, on a continuing basis, is congratulate myself for even the tiniest success. I celebrate all victories, no matter how small. That is HUGE in maintaining enthusiasm.
- It may just be a fist pump like you see Tiger Woods do after a great shot.
- It may be a “pat on the back” that I give myself.
- I may hug myself.
- I may jump in the air.
- I may skip around like a kid.
- I may do a “ta-da!”
A friend of mine, who was also a speaker, bought an “Easy Button” from Staples. When he completes any tiny project or task, he hits the “Easy Button” that says “That was easy.” You know what? I went out and bought one, and now I do the same. You would be amazed at what it does to your attitude!
